Two retails shops in Istanbul and one retail shop in Ankara were opened with the aim of disseminating glassware culture and stabilizing retail prices within the country; and Paşabahçe Ticaret Ltd. Şti. was established.
Paşabahçe participated for the first time in the Izmir International Fair.

The first H28 was operated in the Paşabahçe Glass Plant, and the first bottle was exported to Cyprus.

Marmara Limestone and Dolomite Enterprise was established.

The Çayırova Glass Plant was commissioned and started to manufacture window glass by using the “Fourcoult” system with an annual production of 19,000 tons of flat glass.

The mechanical press was used for the first time in the Paşabahçe Glass Plant.

The “TACAM” (Turkish-German Glass Industry) Plant was founded with Turkish-German cooperation (Schott) with the purpose of manufacturing neutral glass pipes and laboratory apparatus.
Paşabahçe participated for the first time in a national fair (the Samsun Fair).

The flat glass furnace no. II (Fourcoult system) of the Çayırova Glass Plant was commissioned.
“Duracam” started to be manufactured in the Çayırova Glass Plant.
The foundations for the Topkapı Glass Plant were laid.

Teknik Cam Sanayii  started to manufacture heat-resistant glass for tableware and laboratory apparatus.
Automobile glass started to be manufactured in the Çayırova Glass Plant.
TACAM was acquired and renamed “TACAM – TEKNİK CAM”.

Anadolu Cam was established in Mersin.
Tacam-Teknik Cam started to manufacture “Neutral borosilicate” glass pipes for use in medicine ampules.
Soda Sanayii  was established.
Topkapı Glass Plant started to manufacture bottles and jars.
Bottle production activities in the Paşabahçe Glass Plant were transferred to the Topkapı Plant.
Crystal production with 6 pots began in the Paşabahçe Plant.

Camiş Makina ve Kalıp began manufacturing molds used in the production of glass packaging and glassware as well as various machinery and spare parts.

Cam Elyaf  was established with the purpose of manufacturing glass fiber and mat as well as glass fiber reinforced materials.
Çayırova Glass Plant started to manufacture figured glass.
Flat glass was manufactured in the Çayırova Glass Plant by using the Pitsbourgh system.
Glass design activities started in Paşabahçe and selected articles were sent to the Lisbon International Hand-Made Glass Exhibition.

Paşabahçe took a step forward on the issue of fairs which were deemed to be the most effective means of publicity at the time and took part in eight fairs by constructing special pavilions.

Cam Elyaf  acquired know-how from NGF of Japan, and the foundations of a 4,000-ton furnace were laid for the production of glass fibre reinforced materials.
The first glass rods were manufactured by Teknik Cam.
Anadolu Cam  started to produce flat glass and bottles.
Efforts commenced to turn Şişecam into a holding. Production operations were separated from marketing and sales operations. Manufacturers became incorporated companies. The marketing and wholesale activities conducted within Şişecam were organized under the roof of Paşabahçe Ticaret Ltd. Şti.
Paşabahçe took part in the Frankfurt and Macef Fairs for the first time ever.

Glass fiber manufactured by Cam Elyaf  were used in the production of Anadol brand cars.
Cam İşleme (glass processing plant) was founded to manufacture tempered glass and mirrors.
The first tempered borosilicate glass was manufactured by Teknik Cam.
The first tempered press products were manufactured by Paşabahçe.

Anadolu Cam was incorporated into the Şişecam Group.
Soda Sanayii  began producing soda ash which is an essential ingredient in the production of glass.
Rastaş Reform Ambalaj San. Ve Tic.  producing all types of caps and closures for glass packaging was incorporated into the Şişecam Group.
Furnace No. I of  Cam Elyaf was commisionned for the first time.
The first glass fibers were manufactured from E glass.

The Research Center was established to boost corporate R&D efforts.
The first double gob press machine was commissioned in Paşabahçe.
Cam Elyaf  started to manufacture glass roving.
Marketing and sales operations were divided functionally on the basis of the market; Cam Pazarlama  was established as a separate sales company focusing on the construction, food and automotive industries; Paşabahçe Ltd. became specialized on the marketing and sales of glassware.
Ferro Döküm engaged in the production of iron castings for the automobile and general machinery industry, was incorporated in the Şişecam Group.

A Paşabahçe agency was opened in New York and the Company participated for the first time ever in the Chicago Fair.
A license agreement for the production of float glass was made with Pilkington.
A hand cutting atelier for crystal ware was established by Paşabahçe Cam in the village of Öğümce.

Çayırova İnce Öğütme (fine grinding plant) was established for the production of glass fiber raw materials.
The first technical know-how agreement was made by Paşabahçe with Crown Corning / Australia.
Trakya Öğütme (grinding plant) was founded with the purpose of fulfilling the dolomite and limestone demands of glass plants.
Trakya Glass Plant was established with the purpose of producing uncolored float glass under the Pilkington license.
Bursa Otocam engaged in the production of automobile glasses was incorporated in the Şişecam Group.
İstanbul Porselen  was incorporated in the Group, Paşabahçe Tic. Ltd.. was entrusted with the marketing and sales of porcelain householdware.

Kromsan (Chromium Chemicals Plant) was established.
Telecam (TV glass plant) was founded.
Cam Elyaf became engaged in its first ever exportation efforts.

Safaalan İşletmesi ve Nakliye Grubu (The establishment and transportation group) was established for the production of sand for glass packagings and the transport of raw materials.
The first “Glass Bead” was manufactured by Teknik Cam.
Sinop Cam was founded in Sinop with the purpose of manufacturing hand made glass and crystal glass.

Sinop Cam  was commissioned.
Cam Elyaf started to produce polyester resin under the SAVID SpA license. The bumpers were used in Tofaş brand cars.
Trakya Cam , which is the joint stock company currently incorporating the Trakya Plant, the Mersin Plant and the Trakya Automotive Glass Plant, was founded.
The Trakya Plant started to manufacture float glass.
Şişecam Research Center became a member of ICG (International Glass Commission).

Paşabahçe Tic. Ltd. which was accountable for the marketing of glass tableware by wholesaling and retail assigned its responsibilities in the Paşabahçe Chain to the newly founded Paşabahçe Perakende Satışlar Ltd.
The flat glass division of Cam Pazarlama  took part in the Düsseldorf “Glasstec” fair for the first time.
Cam Elyaf concluded a sales agreement with Symalit AG of Switzerland for the production of GMT.
400.000 liters of GRP wine tanks were produced for “Doluca” winery.
The first headlamp glass was produced by Teknik Cam.
The first glass bead machine was commissioned in Paşabahçe.
The first automatic silk screen printing machine became operational in Paşabahçe.
The first footed ware production began in H28 in Paşabahçe.
The first ever thick bottomed products were manufactured in Paşabahçe.
Investments began to establish a second plant (Kırklareli Cam) making use of soda glass in automatic machines.

Caminter Şişecam Internationale Handelsgesellschaft GmbH acting as the center of Şişecam’s international relations was founded to function as a bridge in international activities.
"Cam Pazarlama  was granted with the status of “Foreign Trade Capital Company”.
Telecam (TV glass plant)  ceased operations at the end of the year.

A second furnace started to be built in Cam Elyaf with know-how from NEG of Japan.
Cam Elyaf started to take part in international specialist fairs (K85  Plastics Fair – Düsseldorf).
The first “Symposium On Glass Problems” was organized.
Cullet Plant was founded for the purposes of cullet collection and sorting and the voluntary recall of glass container materials.
Paşabahçe participated in the Izmir Fair with a pavilion built by the Company for the first time ever.
Derya Dış Ticaret  was founded to accommodate the transportation needs of the Group companies.
Camiş Menkul Değerler  was founded to be operational in the capital market.

Kromsan merged with Soda Sanayii 
The first continual electric furnace for crystal production was commissioned in Paşabahçe.
The “Borcam – heat resistant glassware” line became operational in Teknik Cam with the cooperation of NEG of Japan.
Glass recycling was systematized through the use of the bottle banks made of GRP.
The geothermal pipes in GRP heat insulation started to use.
Cam Elyaf started to manufacture trimmed glass fiber for thermoplastic resin.

The NNPB process was used for the first time ever in Anadolu Cam .
The first “stationary glass blowing” technique was used in Kırklareli Cam.
The second furnace of Cam Elyaf was commissioned.
SMC sheets started to be manufactured.
Sand for glassware begun to be produced in the Fındıkdere quarry.
Camiş Ambalaj  started to manufacture high quality offset and flexo printed paper-cardboard consumer packages, exhibition stands and transport packaging.
Bottle banks started to be used as a volunteer glass packaging waste collection system within the framework of glass recycling activities.
Cam Elyaf introduced the “Mobo” modular system to the market.
Cam Elyaf manufactured direct type refuse bins from inflammable SMC for the Istanbul Municipality.

The first ever “domestically-made H28 machine” manufactured by   Camiş Makina Kalıp was commissioned in Paşabahçe.
Product packaging operations in Kırklareli Glass Plant were automated for the first time ever (teacups packing by robots).
Mining operations fulfilling the raw material requirements of Camiş Madencilik  as well as all production companies of Şişecam were instutitionalized.
The NNPB (light bottle) production technology constituting an important milestone in the glass packaging production technology started to be used in the Mersin Plant.
International Glass Ltd. was founded to deal with markets in the Far East.
Kırklareli Glassware Sand Preparation Plant was established.
Production of anorganic based chrome sulphate started in the Kromsan . 
The industrial waste water refinery was established in the Kromsan.

Insulating glass, mirrors and tempered glass were manufactured in Cam İşleme.
Camiş Sigorta Hizmetleri  was founded to render services in the insurance sector.
The second “technical know-how” agreement of the Glassware  Business was concluded with Ishuzuka Glass of Japan.
The first glass robot by the Japanese firm İshuzuka was used in the production of glassware.
Exportation by Cam Elyaf focused on European countries and attained the 11.000 tons level.
160 kg of SMC were used in minibuses with wholly GRP bodies.
In Cam Elyaf Selene – Stadio(Tables-chairs) products were manufactured.And GRP production facilities was founded in .
Cam Pazarlama  was granted with a purchase-sale license for the Mersin Free Zone.

Öğümce Plant was closed.
GRP products manufactured by Cam Elyaf started to be used by the Highways of the Turkish Republic.
Kırklareli Cam was engaged in the automatic production of stemmed glasses for the first time.
The first forehearth was commissioned in Kırklareli Cam.
The first product barcodes were used by Kırklareli Cam.
Production ceased in Istanbul Porselen.
Camsar Sanayi Ara Malları Pazarlama  was founded to domestically and internationally market and sell the soda ash products and chromium chemicals manufactured by Şişecam companies.
Camtaş Düzcam ve Cam Ambalaj Pazarlama  was founded to domestically and internationally market and sell the flat glass and glass packaging products manufactured by Şişecam companies.
The second float glass line of the Trakya Glass Plant was installed.
Cam Pazarlama  was granted with an operation license for the Istanbul AHL Free Zone.
Cam Pazarlama  was granted with a Mersin Regional Warehouse Operating license.
Cam Pazarlama ’s Algerian agency was established.

Trakya Glass Plant was awarded with the TS-ISO 9002 KGS Certificate.
Camiş Madencilik-Safaalan ve Nakliye Grubu ceased to be operational.
Cullet Plant was handed over to Topkapı Şişe Sanayii
Cam Elyaf took part in the K-92 Fair for the first time.
Production in Sinop Cam stopped and the company was incorporated in Camtaş Düzcam ve Cam Ambalaj Pazarlama.
The “Mirror and Space” competition was organized by the Flat Glass Business.
The sheet glass furnace no. II was closed down in Çayırova.
The first press-blowing machine was put into operation in Paşabahçe.
Cam Pazarlama  obtained a Mersin Regional Workplace Renting license.
The first line comprising of the first H28 and BOM was installed in Camiş Makina ve Kalıp  with the know-how of ICG, and was commissioned in PB Kırklareli Cam.
